Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Trade License or Permit in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA). Please tap on the following link to view contact details link.
2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) office. The applicants can also find the form on page 54 here: form.
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
6. Pay the fee as per the authority’s request.
7. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, the applicant will be issued a provisional certificate.
8. Collect the license from the respective office in a stipulated period of time.

Eligibility

• The applicant can be an inventor or a creator.
• The group of applicants must have at least one (1) local inventor who must be:
• Resident in Zambia
• 18 years and above
• Of sound mind

Fees

• License Fee: Pay as per authority’s request.

Validity

• The license will be valid for a time period mentioned on the license.
