Apply In-person:

  1. Application for cancellation or removal of ownership of Firearm license should be submitted to District Magistrate (DM) of Police.
  2. Refer “Office locations & Contacts” to contact the District Magistrate under particular jurisdiction. The office and contacts details are given in the below Link
  3. Applicants should submit the application along with the required documents to cancel the ownership of Firearm license.
  4. As per Arms Rule 2016, application form B-2 is used for cancellation or removal of Firearm license.
  5. The applicant can download the form from the below Link
  6. Applicant must download the Form B-2 from the link and fill the appropriate details.
  7. Applicants will be asked to fill only basic information which includes name, age, mobile number, gender, email Id, and also the license number, nearest police station, UIN number (available in employee’s Id card), area within which the license is valid, expiry date of license, and details about the Firearm.
  8. After entering all the applicable details, applicant must upload some supporting documents. Refer the “Required Documents” section below.
  9. After uploading all the supporting documents, applicant should submit the application to the District Magistrate (DM) of the jurisdiction.
  10. If the application and the supporting documents are alright, DM will approve the application. Otherwise DM can reject the application, send back the application to the applicant.
  11. Once the application is processed successfully, the applicant receives an acknowledgement. This acknowledgement contains the application summary and the contact details of the person to be contacted.
  12. The entire processing time takes about 45 days. After the time period the applicant will be notified about the completion of processing.
  13. The applicant will receive the cancelled Firearm license card in applicant’s email provided. Applicant may download it and take a photocopy of the card.


Apply Online:

  1. The applicant can apply online for cancellation or removing the ownership of firearm license.
  2. The applicant should open the West Bengal e-district login web page.Link . The applicant should click on “citizen registration”. After clicking a new Home page appears.
  3. In the home page, it shows the comprehensive list of services under Department and District column.
  4. Click on “Apply to Services” on the left-top to view the list of services under different modules. In the listed modules click “licenses” module.
  5. Under the license heading, the applicant must click the heading “surrender and cancellation of firearm license”.
  6. Now the applicant can see a new window displaying the eligibility criteria, fee details, and the documents required to surrender and cancel the firearm license.
  7. In the new window, applicant need to click “Apply” at the bottom to proceed. Applicant can also take a printout of this page if needed by clicking “Print” option at the bottom of the page.
  8. A new window opens which requires License No and Name of the Beneficiary. Applicant need to fill both mandatory fields to proceed further and click on “Search” button at the bottom to search for the applicant’s license. Now ‘Surrender and Cancellation of Firearm License’, application form appears once applicant’s license is found.
  9. Now the applicant must fill up the mandatory fields before submitting the application form. The form requires the basic information of the applicant which includes, Name, age, date of birth, present address, mobile number, nationality, email id, gender, arms and ammunition details.
  10. After providing the mandatory details the applicant must click “I Accept” check box if the information provided are true and click “Save and Next” button at the bottom to proceed.
  11. On the next page application details of the applicant becomes visible. The applicant can either proceed further by attaching supporting documents, or edit the application or cancel it, or might take a print out of this page.
  12. To proceed with uploading the documents, the applicant must click “Attach Supporting Documents” option at the bottom.
  13. Now a new window opens, in which the applicant will have to select the document name from the drop-down list for each type of supporting document. The applicant can upload the supporting documents by clicking “Choose File” button. After uploading all the mandatory supporting documents, the applicant should click on “Save & Next” button to proceed further. The applicant can also select “Save Draft” button to save the application as a draft.
  14. After completion, the applicant should click “submit” option at the bottom for submitting the application.
  15. When the application is successfully submitted, the applicant receives an acknowledgement. This contains the application summary and the contact details of the person to be contacted.
  16. Approval for cancellation is done by District Magistrate (DM). If the application and the supporting documents are alright, DM will approve the application with digital signature. Otherwise DM can reject the application, send back for revision or send back to applicant.
  17. In order to view the Digitally Signed Cancelled Firearm License, the applicant will have to login to the system. In the home page, the applicant will have to click on “Approved Application” located in middle-top of the page.
  18. Now the “List of Approved Applications” page opens, where the applicant will have to select the service name from “Please Select Service Name” list field.
  19. Now the applicant need to select “Surrender and Cancellation of Firearm License” as service name and click on “Search” button.
  20. Now the applicant can download the certificate by clicking “Download” option to get the digitally signed cancelled Firearm License.



Apply Online

  1. To Cancel or Remove (Delete) Ownership of Firearm (Gun) License, the applicant has to use the following link – link
  2. The applicant has to click the “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” button.
  3. Now select the category, state, district, name of the licensing authority, and service.
  4. The applicant has to enter the unique identification code (UIC), and captcha code and click the “Get Detail” button.
  5. To complete step – 2, the applicant has to enter all the details in license specific details segment.
  6. For the third step complete the endorsement details.
  7. And upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. Fee details will be mentioned in the following step; the applicant has to pay the fee online mode.
  9. After completing all the processes, the applicant has to click the “Save & Submit” button.
  10. An acknowledgment receipt will be downloaded. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant gets the cancellation firearm license with the authority's signature through email.
  13. The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.

EligibilityEdit

The eligibility is that the applicant should have a valid firearm license.
A close relation of the license holder (in case the license holder is deceased).


FeesEdit

As per Arms Rule 2016, the fee applicable to cancel or remove firearm license is Rupees Five Hundred.


ValidityEdit

Once the applicant receives his/her digitally signed cancelled firearm license, it is valid forever. If the license is needed again, he/she should re-apply for the license again for the firearm.
