West Bengal - Apply for Drug License (Retail and Wholesale - Pharmacy)

No individual can start or continue a business dealing drugs / cosmetics / medicine in India, unless an appropriate license is obtained from the designated authority.
As different state has different parameters and regulations, as a first step applicant shall consult their local drug license authority to get advice on
- Any updated rules and regulations in issuance of license.
- Update on drugs that were included in the list for which license can’t be obtained.
- Fees payment type etc.

Apply Online:

Here, please use the login credentials as appropriate and hit the “Sign in” button to login.
If you are a new user then use the “New user” option to reach "Sign Up" page. Please complete the page prompt as appropriate and click the "Submit" button to get "OTP" in the applicant's registered mobile number as well as in the mobile number.
Please enter the received "OTP" at the applicable space as appropriate and click on the applicable button to register. Once registered, a popup will be provided. Please clock the "Login" option to reach the login page and then login.
Once login, the applicant will land on the "Welcome" page. Here, please click on the "Apply for New Licence" option provided on the right part of the screen.
The applicant will reach the "Apply for New License" page.
The applicant shall click on the "Click here to enter payment information" hyperlink to reach the "Payment" page to fill the details as prompted. Please fill the details as appropriate and then click on the "Save and Continue" button to reach the next page.
Here, please process the payment details in depth and click on the "Submit" button.
A popup will be displayed with a "Are you sure want to confirm your Payment." message. Please click the "OK" button to get a new popup with a message "Please Note The Reference Form No for Licence Application : 7xxxxx". Please click the "OK" button and process the resulting page with required details and complete the payment.
The applicant may be provided with online application form page or the applicant may land on the "Apply for New License" page again. If the appellant land on the "Apply for New License" page, then click on the "Click here to fill the application form online" hyperlink to reach the online application form page.
This page will have the payment details, please process the page prompts to fill the online application. Once all the mandatory fields are entered, please use the appropriate options to upload the documents as appropriate and hit the applicable button to complete the submission of the online application.
The applicant will be provided with the system generated acknowledgement with application number. Please save it for future reference.
Now in the "Apply for New License" page, please click on the "Click here to generate form 19" hyperlink under "Step 3" to reach the "Generate Form 19" page. Please process the page with required details and take the printout.
Please sign the printout of the generated application and scan it as "pdf" format.
Please go back to the "Apply for New License" page, please click on the "Click here to upload signed form 19 copy" hyperlink under "Step 3" to reach the respective page to upload the file.
Here, please select the application number from the dropdown list under "Select Application No.: *" and use the "Choose file" option to select the file from the local disk and then click the "Upload" button to upload the file.
Please follow the resulting onscreen instruction to successfully apply online.
Once the acknowledgement is received, please visit the respective drug inspector or the concerned authority with the originals and copy of the document. The applicant shall follow the guidelines of the authorities.
Applicant gets notification about the process updates through "sms".
The application will be processed further.
Drug inspector or the respective authority will inspect the premises for verifying the correctness.
On a scheduled date the inspection team/authority will inspect the premise.
After the inspection is over, Competent person will be asked to report for an interview.
Once the interview is complete and the above process are over, the controller of drugs or the appropriate authority will sanction the drug license.
If required, the applicant may be asked to pay the fees or charges as applicable.
The applicant will receive information about the issue of license.
The licence will hand delivered or can be download or delivered through mail or delivered as per applicable norms.

Note:

Fee payment for the license is accepted in different formats like challan/cheque as applicable. Applicants are advised to take the consultation with the respective drug license authority for your area to prepare fees requirement.
