Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for transfer of other state vehicle in Uttarakhand the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
  2. Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
  3. You will have to submit Application in Forms 20, 27, 28 in front of registering authority.
  4. Application form no 20, can be downloaded from following link:Form 20

  7. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  8. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  9. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application for transfer of other state vehicle.

Apply Online via National Portal:

  1. You can also apply for transfer of other state vehicle to Uttarakhand through the National Portal, the following link will give you access to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India:National Portal
  2. From the dropdown menu of apply online services on the website select the “vehicle related services” option
  3. Once you select the vehicle related services, you will be redirected to the page, Refer
  4. Click on apply online
  5. Enter Valid Vehicle Registration Number and click on Proceed
  6. Select the Service to be availed by Clicking the respective Service under Online Services Menu
  7. Enter Chassis Number and Mobile Number
  8. Fill the Applicant Details as instructed and required.
  9. Enter the OTP received and Click on Show details.
  10. Enter further details as per the form displayed.
  11. Click Submit and then Confirm and Make Payment
  12. Once Payment Done, Print Receipt.

  • PAN No. 2 Copies each from Seller &Purchaser

  1. Chasis & Engine pencil prints with complete alphabets (Plate Print are not acceptable)
  2. Copy of Valid Insurance (attested )
  3. Residence Proof (2 Copies - Attested) of both seller & purchaser
  4. Date of Birth proof (Attested copy)
  5. Seller Affidavit (by Notary with Court Fee stamps of Rs. 4.50 / Megistrate) with attested photo
  6. Purchaser Affidavit (by Notary with Court Fee stamps of Rs. 4.50 / Megistrate) with attested photo
  7. Original RC
  8. Identity of Seller (DL/Pan Card showing the Signature) Specimen Signatures attested by Gazetted Officer or Executive Magistrate
  9. NOC from ETO in case of the vehicle purchased is less than 15 months old.
  10. Affidavit for parking in case of bus & LMV (Transport Vehicle)


Following documents are considered as residence proof :

  • Voter card (attested )
  • LIC Cover Note at least six months old with latest receipt of payment (attested)
  • Valid passport (attested )
  • Employer certificate issued by the competent authority with copy of I-card in case of employee of state or central govt. (attested )
  • If an applicant does not have any of the proofs mentioned above, he may attach attested copy of R/card with affidavit.


In case of Company or organization :

  • ITR latest with affidavit or latest sale tax registration certificate with affidavit(attested )
  • Memorandum and resolution signature of all partners with partnership deed is required.


Notes:

  • Documents accepted as proof of Address & Age, supported by Affidavit attested by Public Notary mentioned overleaf.
  • If the ownership of the vehicle is the same then there is no requirement of Form No. 29, only liability affidavit is required by the owner.
  • NOC confirmation is required from the concerned authority
  • Please bring original documents whose photocopies have been attached with the file.

EligibilityEdit

If the vehicle is registered in one state but is kept in another state for more than 12 months is eligible for re registration or for transfer of the vehicle to the jurisdiction in which it is residing.

InstructionsEdit

  • Apply for assignment of new registration mark to a motor vehicle in Form 27 within 12 months of re-assignment of the vehicle from one state to another
  • Pay appropriate fee and tax as specified in rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • When a motor vehicle registered in one States has been kept in another State, for a period exceeding twelve months, the owner of the vehicle shall, within such period and in such form containing such particulars as may be prescribed by the Central Government, apply to the registering authority, within whose jurisdiction the vehicle then is, for the assignment of a new registration mark and shall present the certificate of registration to that registering authority.
  • Vehicle registration is a requirement by the state. The purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners.
  • Almost all vehicles bears a unique vehicle identification number, but only registered vehicle display a vehicle registration plate and carry a vehicle registration certificate.
