Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for re-registration of a vehicle in Uttarakhand the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
  2. Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
  3. You will have to submit Application in Forms 25 in front of registering authority.
  4. Application form no 25, can be downloaded from following link:Form 25
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  6. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application for transfer of other state vehicle.

Apply Online via National Portal:

  1. You can also apply for re-registration of vehicle/renewal of registration certificate in Uttarakhand through the National Portal,the following link will give you access to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India:National Portal
  2. From the dropdown menu of apply online services on the website select the “vehicle related services” option
  3. Once you select the vehicle related services, you will be redirected to the page, Refer
  4. Click on apply online
  5. Enter Valid Vehicle Registration Number and click on Proceed
  6. Select the Service to be availed by Clicking the respective Service under Online Services Menu
  7. Enter Chassis Number and Mobile Number
  8. Fill the Applicant Details as instructed and required.
  9. Enter the OTP received and Click on Show details.
  10. Enter further details as per the form displayed.
  11. Click Submit and then Confirm and Make Payment
  12. Once Payment Done, Print Receipt.

You are eligible for renewal of registration or re-registration 60 days before the date of your vehicle’s expiry of the registration for its continuous use.

NOTE:

  • Additional fee of two hundred rupees shall be levied if the certificate of registration is a smart card type issued or renewed in Form 23A.
  • In case of delay in applying for renewal of certificate of registration, an additional fee of three hundred rupees for delay of every month or part thereof in respect of motor cycles and five hundred rupees for delay of every month or part thereof in respect of other classes of non-transport vehicles shall be levied.

  • Apply for renewal of certificate of registration in Form 25 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry
  • Pay the due taxes on vehicle, if any
  • Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Re-registration is the process which needs to be done for vehicle after 15 years of its permanent registration. Every registration certificate is required to be renewed not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry of the registration for its continuous use.



Information which might helpEdit

  • All vehicles must be produced at the time of Re-Registration. All the private vehicles are required to be re-registered after 15 years. The vehicle will be re-registered for another five years. The tax on personal motor vehicles or scooters or motorcycles used or kept for use in State for every further period of five years from the date of renewal of the certificate of registration, under Sub-Section (10) of Section 41 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, is charged at thirty percent rate (30%) of the tax already paid at the time of the first registration of such personal motor vehicles/ scooters/ motor cycles.
  • If re registration of vehicle is not done after completion of 15 years the penalty will be charged at the rate of three hundred rupees per month for non-registration of re-registration.
  • The maximum age of vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act is 15 years. After 15 years, when the condition of the vehicle is adjusted, there is a provision for re-registration for five years from the Divisional Transport Office. On December 29, 2016, the Central Government imposed a penal rule for those who drive on roads without re-registrations.
  • Registration or its renewal can be denied if the registration authority has reason to believe that the vehicle is stolen, if it does not meet the prescribed mechanical fitness standards, if the vehicle does not meet emission norms or if the applicant fails to produce required documentation and past registration proof.
