Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply to import Solid Wood Packing Materials, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service) link

2. The applicant has to download the form from the following link
3. Applicant has to fill in all necessary information in the application form. (Incomplete forms are not accepted)
4. The applicant has to make sure to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit the completed form and the necessary documents to the authority officer.
7. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
8. The authority will conduct the on-site inspection.
9. Once all the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through mail.
10. The applicant has to get the permit by visiting the office or download the permit by email.

• Regulated solid wood packaging material may be imported under a general permit provided that the material is heat treated or fumigated with Methyl Bromide and is marked in a visible location with a legible and permanent mark that indicates that the article meets the requirements.
