Apply online:

  1. To Apply to Become An Eligible Crab Community Organization (ECCO), the applicant has to use the following link
  2. Applicant must provide all information necessary for the application procedure online.
  3. Applicants should make sure to upload digital copies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
  4. The necessary documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The fee for this procedure has been mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  7. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  8. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  9. The applicant has to visit the office to get the permit.
  10. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  1. To Apply to Become An Eligible Crab Community Organization (ECCO), the applicant has to approach the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit the complete application to the appropriate office mailing address.

  • The non-profit organization's bylaws.
  • List of the management organization's main personnel, including the board of directors, officers, representatives, and any managers.
  • Resumes of management personnel and further contact information for the non-managing profit's personnel.
  • Describe how the non-profit is qualified to administer QS on behalf of the ECC it has been assigned to represent, as well as a demonstration that the non-profit has the necessary management and technical capabilities to manage QS and individual fishing quotas (IFQ).

  • An eligible crab community (ECC) is an Alaskan community, not a CDQ community in Western Alaska, where historically 3 percent or more of any CR crab fishery was processed.
  • The applicant, who joined a crab harvesting cooperative, must apply to ensure that they are listed on the cooperative’s application(s) for annual crab harvesting cooperative IFQ permit.
