Uganda - Search and Certify Motor Vehicle Details

That this facility is only available for vehicles which have new registration books
How to apply:
In person application:
- Visit any of the licencesing office near to you with all the required documents and the recommended application fee
- Approach the services desk and request for assistance for a search and certify motor vehicle detail, pay the search fee
- Upon which the attending officer will do a URA computer system data base search and issue you with the information immediately
- If you require a certificate of the vehicle search you will be required to pay an additional certificate fee and be issued the certificate by the issuing authority
Online application:
- To Search and Certify Motor Vehicle Details, the applicant has to make the application online via link
- The applicant has to enter all the details in the application form and click the “Next” button.
- Search the details by entering the vehicle registration number and clicking “Next” button.
- Select the payment option and make a payment online.
- Finally enter the captcha code and click the “Submit” button.
- Now, the applicant can check the details of the motor vehicle.
- The processing time for this procedure is complete within a few minutes.
Note: If you paid for Search and certification you will get copies of the vehicle details from the licensing officer. However, if you paid for search you will only be in position to view the details online.

- Person who have lost their original logbook and want to process a new one (duplicate)
- Person wanting to process an absentee transfer where the original car owner as per logbook is not traceable
- Person making sure that the current logbook matches exactly with the details in the URA database

When you apply for search you only view the vehicle details on the URA web portal.
When you apply for search and certification you view the vehicle details and also get a certified document with the vehicle details.
