Procedure

Applying process in Trinidad and Tobago for citizen and non-citizen.

A. Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Trinidad and Tobago Police Station – link
2. The applicant has to get the appointment through online and complete the procedure.
3. Use the following link to upload all the details and for appointment – link
4. The applicant has to enter in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted) and click the “Next” button.
5. Make sure that the applicant has uploaded all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page and click the “Next”.
6. Now, the applicant has to select the date for appointment.
7. The applicant is responsible for printing their own application forms on legal size paper and bringing it to the police station on the day of their appointment.
8. The Certificate of Character processing fee is TT$50, which is to be paid at the police station on the day of the appointment.
9. The concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. Once the process gets completed, the applicant has to give the fingerprint and get the certificate from the office.
11. This entire process can be completed within 1 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Applying process - overseas for citizen.

A. Apply through mail(post).

1. Applicant has to apply with the “Office of the Senior Superintendent” to obtain the PCC through mail(post).
2. Once the application is filled in, please attach the completed application, required document and fee paid details.
3. Mail(post) these set of documents to:
   Office of the Senior Superintendent,
   Criminal Investigations Department and Criminal Records Office,
   Police Headquarters, Cnr St Vincent and Sackville Streets.
   Port of Spain, Trinidad.

4. This application received will be processed by respective department.
5. The certificate will be delivered to the applicant as per norms.

B. Apply through representative.

1. Applicant shall mandate an authorized representative to apply on their behalf at the respective “Office of the Senior Superintendent”
2. Address:
   Office of the Senior Superintendent,
   Criminal Investigations Department and Criminal Records Office,
   Police Headquarters, Cnr St Vincent and Sackville Streets.

3. The mandated person should be entrusted with the written authorization to apply for it and / or receive it.
4. Representative should carry required documents and the completed application form and go to the respective office.
5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. #Representative should pay for any charges, if required as advised.
6. This application will be processed by respective department.
7. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person upon notification or issued as per norms.

Note:

Representative should carry the following while applying.

• written authorization
• ID card or passport.

C. Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs – link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of TT$50.00
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. #If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
10. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
11. The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
12. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Foreign national

• A copy of your passport while living in Trinidad and Tobago.

Eligibility

• Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
• Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
• The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
• Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.
