ProcedureEdit

  1. To apply for electrical installation certification, applicants must obtain an Application Form for Inspection of Electrical Installation from any of the Government Electrical Inspectorate (address provided below).
  2. Application forms are to be completed by the property owner and a licensed wireman.
  3. The completed form will need to be submitted to the nearest Government Electrical Inspectorate office, along with all the required documents.
  4. Pay the prescribed application fee. Notes: payments can be made at the Government Electrical Inspectorate offices, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays.
  5. It will take about 7 working days for your application to be processed. An inspection date will be issued and an inspector will be assigned to conduct a site visit. Once the inspection is carried out the results will be furnished and a certificate will be issued for installations that have passed the inspection. Once all fees have been paid in full and the electrical installation meets the required standards, the certificate can be issued on site by the inspecting officer.

EligibilityEdit

Individuals and business carrying out any form of electrical work at their premises, including installation, upgrades or repairs, are required to apply for Electrical Installation Certification.

FeesEdit

  • A fee of TT$3.00 for each electrical point (switch, outlet) is to be paid upon submission of your application.
  • Newly constructed buildings are required to undergo a preliminary inspection which carries an inspection fee:
    • Residential Properties: TT$40.00
    • Commercial Properties: TT$50.00
