ProcedureEdit

  1. Submit all the required documents at the passport office in your area or the nearest New Zealand Embassy, High Commission or Consulate for more info visit

  1. The passport officer will accept and process your application
  2. If anything is wrong, or if they need more information, they will contact you by letter usually within 3 to 5 working days after they have received a standard application, or they will call you if there's a problem with an urgent application.
  3. For a new passport application it cannot be done online

The New Zealand Passport is valid for a maximum period of 5 years. The validity period starts from the date of issue and runs until the date of expiry

A passport may now be issued in an applicants preferred sex / gender of M (male), F (female) or X (indeterminate/unspecified), without the need to amended these details on your birth or citizenship record.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Tokelau is a territory of New Zealand. It is a New Zealand territory, and is sometimes referred to by its older colonial name, the Union Islands. You are a citizen if you were born in New Zealand, Niue, the Cook Islands or Tokelau before 1 January 2006. Children born on or after 1 January 2006 are only New Zealand citizens if one of their parents was a citizen or a permanent resident of New Zealand, Niue, the Cook Islands or Tokelau at the time of the child's birth. Tokelau citizens are issued with New Zealand passport

if you submit your application via a New Zealand Embassy, High Commission or Consulate office an additional fee of NZ$50.00 is payable. This is paid directly to the diplomatic post in the local currency of the country you are in. Please note, not all offices provide this service.

If your new passport is being sent to a different delivery address rather than the same diplomatic post where you submitted your application, the relevant international courier fee will also be charged.
