Apply In-Person:
- Individuals who are unable to change their address online or who do not want to mail-in their application can take their completed Application for Change of Address to any driver license office. (This form is also available at any driver license office.)
- Application for Change of Address link
- Note: DPS encourages individuals to change their address online or mail-in their application, if possible.
Apply Online:
- Go to Texas Driver License Renewal and Change of Address system
- Click 'Continue', log-in by entering your:
- Driver license or ID card number,
- Date of birth,
- Last four digits of Social Security number, and
- Audit number
- Select Your Services
- Select Optional Items and Complete Affirmations
- Review Order and Make Payment
- Print your Receipt
Apply by Mail:
- To Change Address in your Identification Card, the applicant has to approach the Texas Department of Public Safety link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office mailing address.
- The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- The fee details are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- This entire process can be completed within 5 – 7 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- Your ID card must not be expired. If it is expired, you can only change your address if you also renew it at the same time.
- You must be 18 years of age.
- Your Social Security Number is already on file.
- You are a U.S. citizen.

- In Texas, the address on a driver license and ID card must be changed within 30 days after moving to a new residence.
- There are three ways to request a replacement driver's license and ID card with a new address:
- Online
- Mail-In
- In-Person

Have all of the following items ready before you use the online service:
- Your current ID card;
- A printer to print your temporary driver license and payment receiptit will not be emailed to you;
- A valid credit card: MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express only;
- The last four digits of your Social Security Number.
