Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renewal of Tourism License in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) or BCP department or Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

3. The applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. A fees for this procedure is has to be paid as per as authority request.
6. Submit it to the relevant authority at the office and pay the Application and Processing fee as directed by the officials.
7. On completion of this process, GTA will issue to the applicant a renewed license in the prescribed form as follows:
8. Class A and B – the processing time for this procedure take within 14 days.
9. Class C, D, E, F, and G – the processing time for this procedure take within 7 days if there are no new issues.
10. Class H- the processing time for this procedure takes within 2 months.

Instructions

• To renew tourism license in Ghana Tourism Authority, the applicants visit any of the GTA offices in the applicant’s region.

Required Information

• Name of Company/Person to be licensed (The Company’s or persons name should be stated in full)
• Physical address
• Postal address
• Income Tax Personal Identification Number (PIN)
• Short description of the applicants licensable activity or service
• Registration certificate number.
• Name and address of the bank or financial institution where business account is maintained
• Full name(s) of proprietor(s) or managing director if a Limited Company
• Postal and residential address(es) of proprietor(s) or managing director
• Age, country of birth, present nationality of persons proprietor(s) or managing director
• State whether any of the partners/directors/shareholders is an undercharged bankrupt. (If so, indicate the names)
• State whether any of the partners/directors/shareholders have a beneficial interest in any other business licensed to provide or operate tourism activities and services
• Whether any previous application by you been rejected under the Act
• Whether any previous license granted to you under the Act been revoked, cancelled or suspended
• Total sales for the past calendar year
• Total number of beds
• Tariff (s)

Need for the Document

• Ghana Tourism is the licensing Authority for all hotels, restaurants and recreational facilities in Ghana and hence before he/she commence operations, his/her need to have your hotel facility licensed.

• The Ghana Tourism Authority is a Ghanaian state agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts responsible for the regulation of tourism in Ghana by marketing, promoting, licensing, classifying, researching and developing tourism facilities and services in the country.
• The Authority was established in 1960 as the Ghana Tourist Board. The board was renamed as the Ghana Tourism Authority in 2011 under act 817. The act extended the tasks of the agency to oversee the implementation of government policies in the industry.
• The act also makes the agency a fully-fledged income generating authority by establishing a fund to which every tourism business is required to contribute one percent (1%) of its revenue for tourism development.
