Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Renewal application for a Register as Tea Grower is done in person by visiting the Agriculture and Food Authority Board Head Offices in Ghana.

3. Certificates issued by the Authority expire on the 30th June of every year and license holders wishing for renewal thereof may apply by 1st June preceding the expiry of the license.
4. A Tea Grower Registration certificate holder shall be renewable by 30th June of every year upon payment of the renewal fees.
5. Visit the office and get a renewal application form as applicable to the applicant’s requirement, from the respective department.
6. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. In addition to the required documents the board will require the applicant to submit returns for the year.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. The completed renewal application form submitted to the respective office.
10. This will be followed by an inspection of applicant by the Board field Officers.
11. The Board field officers will make recommendations for renewal of the certificate and forward their report forwarded to Board’s Headquarters for the ultimate Board approval.
12. Upon a successful approval by the board a list of approved/ renewed Tea Grower Registration certificate is published in the Ghana gazette.
13. At this point the applicant is notified and he/she will be required to pay the respective license fees as prescribed by the board and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
14. Once the license renewal processing is done the Renewed Tea Grower Registration certificate is issued to the applicant by the Managing Director of the Agriculture and Food Authority.
15. Renewal certificate takes a maximum of 30 days to process.

Eligibility

• Any person, cooperative society, group or companies whose license is expired can apply for renewals.

Fees

• Application fees is GHS 1,000 (Non-refundable)

Validity

• The registration is valid for a period of one year.

Need for the Document

• This renewal application allows one to continue to carry on with the business of tea growing.
• One cannot operate as a tea grower in Ghana unless they are registered by the tea directorate of the MOFA.

Information which might help

• The licensing authority shall issue licenses to applicants subject to such lawful conditions as the authority may determine.
• Every license shall specify the premises upon which the business specified in the license may be carried on.
• Licenses issued shall remain in force until the thirtieth of June next following the date of issue, unless earlier cancelled.
• There shall be fees payable for the issue of licenses under this Act. Such fees are as the licensing authority may prescribe.
• The total fees charged will depend on the turnover of the dealer and shall not overburden small scale dealers and the cumulative total of all levies and fees payable shall in any event not exceed ten per cent of the gate value of the agricultural or aquatic product.
