Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain a burial permit, the applicant must visit the Registration, Insolvency, and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) contact link
  2. Downloadable application form is available in the following link
  3. Applicant must provide all information that is requested in the application form.
  4. Applicant should make sure to carry all documents (both photocopies and originals) of all documents that are needed for completing this procedure.
  5. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. Applicant should attach both photocopies and originals of all documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form before submitting it at the office.
  7. The fee for this procedure is Tsh 4,000/- if the death is more than 30 days and less than 10 years. If the death is more than 10 years, the fee is Tsh 10,000/-
  8. If all these procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the permit will be provided within a 1-2 days by visiting the office after getting any SMS or any other notification from the office.
  9. If there is no information regarding the burial permit is provided within 1-2 days.

  • Passport sized photograph of the applicant
  • Ownership Certificate of the premises where the burial is done (if nearby a house)
  • Permit from local authorities for burying in a burial ground/cemetery

  • The Fee for this procedure is Tsh 4,000/- if the death is more than 30 days and less than 10 years. If the death is more than 10 years, the fee is Tsh 10,000/-

  • Burial Permit is valid forever.

  • Prior to making burial/funeral arrangements or cremation, a burial permit is a necessary document that has to be obtained. The jurisdiction where the death happened issues burial permission.
