Apply In-Person:
- Application form for obtaining license for establishing a Cage Fish Farm in Tanzania is available in Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Tanzania contact link
- Applicant should provide all information in the application form.
- Applicant must make sure to carry photocopies and originals of all documents that are necessary for the procedure to complete.
- Documents that are necessary for completing this procedure is mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
- Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- Upon the completion of application submission, the ministry will send concerned officers for inspecting the premises where the cage fish farm will be taken place.
- If the officer is satisfied with the premises and results, the applicant will be notified within 1 month regarding the availability of their license.
- After receiving the notification via SMS, applicant can visit the office to get their license.
- If there is no information regarding their license is provided even after 1 month, the applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.

- Water discharge plan including measures for treatment of farm effluents into the surroundings and steps for screening to avoid farm fish escapes.
- The clearance/permit for water abstraction and discharge in case of use in excess of 400m3 of water a day.
- Evidence of community involvement and social cooperate responsibility near the site.
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Registration of business
- Registration with local government/trading license
- Directorate of Aquaculture permit issued
- Evidence of feed being obtained from a certified source
- Evidence of seed being obtained from a certified source
