Tamil Nadu - Apply for Manufacture License under Weights and Measure

Procedure

No person shall manufacture any weight or measure unless he holds a valid license issued by the Controller of Legal Metrology.

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant shall approach office of the Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology / controller of legal metrology / Inspectorate Offices under whose dominion the manufacturing unit is located.

4. Go to the office.
5. Obtain the application form or write on a A4 sheet as advised.
6. After filling/completing application form attach all the required documents as per our required document section.
7. Submit the document set along with required/applicable fee to the receiving authority.
8. Submitted application will be verified by the authorities. If all are in place submitted application will be accepted.
9. Applicant will be provided with receipt for submission of application.
10. This application will be processed further by the department.
11. For the verification process a date is fixed applicant gets intimation from the department about the application progress. Follow the notification.
12. There will be inspection cum verification process from the department authorities on a scheduled date.
13. The premises will be inspected by the concerned Legal Metrology Officer and original documents will be verified and security deposit if applicable would be collected.
14. This application along with inspection/verification report will be submitted to the issuing authority/controller of legal metrology concerned.
15. Based on the advice and report the registration process will be completed,
16. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
17. If approved, the certificate will be issued as per applicable norms.
    

Note:

• A proof of sanctioned and installed and energized power load required for proper manufacturing of the items shall also be furnished by the applicant.
• The workshop premises should be suitable and adequate (not less than the area as prescribed)
  

Apply Online :

1. To apply for Manufacture License under Weights and Measure through online,Click on the following link : Single window portal
2. After visiting the portal click on the “Login” button.
3. Now enter the Username and Password and click on the “Login” button.
4. If you are a new user then click on the “Register” option and fill all the required information and click “Register”.
5. Login using your credentials and now in the home page click on the “Apply for Clearances” and select “Pre-Operation Stage Clearances” option.
6. Now select “License for Manufacturer/Repairer/Dealer of Weights or Measures” and click “Apply” button to apply.
7. Fill the registration form and upload all the required documents.
8. Check for Valid Entries and Generate Preview for Confirmation (before Final Submission) and click on the “Submit” button.
9. Now pay the required amount using payment gateway and take a print of your payment acknowledgement.
10. You can check the application status through this portal.
11. This application along with inspection/verification report will be submitted to the issuing authority/controller of legal metrology concerned.
12. Based on the advice and report the registration process will be completed,
13. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
14. If approved, you can download the certificate from the portal.
15. To download the certificate go the portal and click on the “Verify certificate” option and enter the certificate number and click on the “Submit” Button.
16. Now download or print your certificate.

• Certificate of registration of Industry/registration under Shops and Establishments Act/NOC form Gram panchayat as appropriate
• Authenticated document regarding Proprietorship /Registered partnership deed/memorandum of association and articles of association along with list of directors.
• Premises - ownership documents/ registered rent or leave license agreement or lease agreement NOC from the owner / NOC of the member if the premise is owned by family member.

• Self-declaration about whether any offence is pending against him in court and/ or police station

• Receipt of property tax
• Aadhaar card of directors

• Self-attested copy of the applicable documents should be attached

Validity

Every license issued to a manufacturer shall be valid for a minimum period of one calendar year and can be renewed.
