• Go to DMV
• Certify that you have read and understand, meet the requirement under 49 CFR Part 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Fill up the required form
  • Form DL-405A
  • Form 447-CDL Application for a Commercial Drivers License or Beginners Pocket
• Submit the documents
  • Valid DOT Medical pocket card
  • Proof of identity
  • Automobile Liability insurance information
• Pass the tests
  • Vision test
  • Hazardous materials knowledge test
  • Complete TSA fingerprinting and background check
• Pay the fees
• Surrender your out of state license.

Need for the Document

If by circumstance your residence is transferred to South Carolina, you must apply for a transfer of your Commercial Drivers License. The transfer of your CDL must be done within 30 days.
