Apply In-Person:
- To apply for an employment in the public service in person, you have to visit the office of the relevant national or provincial department or any address that is mentioned in an employment advertisement.
- The contact and address links of some of the national or provincial department offices can be found in the following link: Link
- Visit the relevant department that offers employment and obtain the application form Employment (form Z83) from the concerned department.
- Or click here to download: Link Complete the application form with the required information in regard with your need.
- Please make sure that you have all the documents with you that are mentioned in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Please pay the prescribed fees (if any) and submit application form and required documents at the concerned department of the office.
- After submission, you may, depending on the approach followed by the relevant department, receive an acknowledgment letter.

- Any person who is employed and working in a public service and is eligible for a vacancy listed in the Public Service Vacancy Circular can apply.

- Vacancies in national and provincial departments are filled by recruiting serving employees or by inviting applications from those who are not employed in the Public Service.
- Vacancies in senior positions, I. e. the senior management service, must be advertised nationally for recruitment from within and from outside the Public Service.
- As a rule vacancies are advertised in a Public Service Vacancy Circular compiled and issued weekly by the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).
- The Public Service Vacancy Circular informs public servants about vacancies within the Public Service.

The need of the application is to seek an opportunity offered in the public service i.e., any national or provincial department in the format prescribed by the Department of Public Service and Administration.

- Persons who are not Public Service employees but interested in the positions advertised should first establish from the advertising department if they can apply. The contact details of the advertising departments are provided in the Circular.
- Some departments such as Defence may ask you to take a medical examination before considering your application.
