Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for renewing Second-Hand Goods Dealer or Recycler registration in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Designated Second-hand goods Officer (DSO) in the South African Police Service.
  2. The address and contact details of the office of SAPS can be found in the following link: Link
  3. Visit the nearest office of SAPS and obtain an Application for renewal of Second-Hand Goods Dealer/Recycler Registration from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Complete the application form with all the details required under relevant sections properly with absolute legibility and attest it with your signature.
  6. Now, attach all the required documents with the completed form and submit it to the DSO at the office.
  7. Then, application and attached documents will be forwarded for required verification and validation processes.
  8. After the completion of necessary processes, the DSO will perform necessary steps for the Registration renewal process.

  • Any person, whose registration as a Second-hand goods dealer or Recycler has been expired, can apply for a renewal.
  • The person must lodge his/her application not more than 180 days and not less than 90 days before the expiry date of the existing registration.
