Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Registration of Individual Auditors and Firms, the applicant must go to the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) office in South Africa. Contact Link
  2. The application form “Form 2” must be obtained from the authorities at the IRBA office, or else it can be downloaded from the official website linked here. Application Form Link
  3. If the applicant wishes to register a firm with one or more branches other than the head office of the firm, then they must attach the additional “Form 2A” along with the main Additional Application Form Link
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents it must be submitted to the official Email ID given here [email protected] .
  6. After that the application will be verified by the IRBA officials.
  7. If the details and the documents submitted by the applicant is valid and legitimate, and the Individual Auditors and Firms registration will be approved by the IRBA.
  8. After the approval, the applicant will receive a letter confirming the registration of Individual Auditors and Firms by the IRBA officials.
  9. The non-refundable registration fee of R6240.00 must be paid while submitting the application form to IRBA. The application processing starts only after the applicant submits the confirmation of registration fee payment to IRBA.
  10. The processing time to register the Individual Auditors and Firms will take 4 to 6 weeks to if all the documents and fee payment are completed by the applicant, if not there will be a delay in the processing time.

  • Quality (ISQC) Manual of the practice you intend to start.
  • Name and RA number of RA identified as the practice’s Quality Reviewer.
  • Copies of agreements entered into with the Quality Reviewer.
  • Proof of payment or the copy of Cheque.
  • Details of firm ownership and directorship, if applicable, including memorandum of incorporation, shareholders agreement, copy of shareholders register / securities register, share certificates and CIPC COR39 Form. Additional Form Link


Note:
  • The business plan must contain more than an introduction. It must contain items such as:
    • The structure of the firm
    • Services offered by the firm
    • Resources (HR, IT etc. Including what software, the firm will be using)
    • Financial projections including revenue streams (such as will your clients be private or public sector clients; how will clients be sourced)
    • Organogram of firm.
    • Risk identification and mitigation strategy
    • Firm’s transformation strategy and objectives
  • The Quality manual must contain,
    • all the established procedures and policies covering all aspects of ISQC1.
    • all your templates and checklists as identified in your manual.
  • If the firm you wish to register is an incorporated company, we will require the following documents:
    • Copy of shareholders agreement indicating all the shareholders of the company.
    • Memorandum of incorporation of the company.
    • Copy of shareholders register / securities register and share certificates and Copy of the latest COR39 from CIPC indicating all the directors of the company.
  • If the firm you wish to register is a partnership, we will require the following document:
    • Copy of partnership agreement or equivalent.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any registered auditors in SA are eligible to apply for firm registration with IRBA.



FeesEdit

  • Non-Refundable registration Fee – R6240.00.



ValidityEdit

  • The firm registration is valid forever until terminated by the firm members. However, the firm must pay the annual fee to the IRBA every year.
