Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Licence to Conduct National Lottery, the applicant must go to the National Lotteries Commission Head Office (NLCSA) in South Africa Contact Link
2. The application form for conducting the National Lottery can either be obtained from the NLC office or downloaded from the official website only when the commission release the call for the application.
3. Since the application format changes from time to time, therefore there isn’t any constant application form for the license.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it must be submitted to the authorities at the NLC.
6. The authorities will verify the application and the documents submitted by the applicant.
7. After verification, if all the details and the documents submitted are legitimate then the License to conduct the National Lottery will be approved by the NLC.
8. After the registration is approved, the applicant will be issued with the registration certificate.
9. The fee details and the processing time to get the national lottery license will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

Required Documents

• Application Form.
• Registration certificate as a non-profit organisation, Section 21 company, public benefit trust, or school registered with the Department of Education.
• The organisation’s constitution, articles and memorandum of association, or deed of trust.
• Most recent annual financial statements signed and dated by a registered accounting officer.
• Organisations that have not previously received NLDTF funding are required to submit a two-year annual financial statement signed by an independent accounting officer.
• Organisations previously allocated NLDTF funding need only to submit financial statements for one year, which must be audited.
• Signed auditor’s report or, for first time applicants, a signed accounting officer’s report.
• A project motivation that explains the importance of the initiative for which you are seeking funds.
• A detailed business plan for the project.
• A detailed and realistic budget for the project.
  

Additional Supporting Documents:

• Where an application is related to the development or renovation of a heritage site -An approval from the relevant provincial or national authority.
• Where an application includes the building or upgrading of infrastructure - Proof of ownership of the land and/or building or proof of tenure.
• Where an application involves the purchase of assets or equipment - Quotations must be provided for these items.

Eligibility

The lottery managers who are required in terms of the law to register with the National Lotteries Commission are eligible to apply for the National Lottery license.

The national lottery license is valid for a maximum period of 3 years.
