Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain Export Permit or License for Waste, the applicant must go to the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa’s (ITAC) office. Contact Link
- The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the ITAC office, or else it should be downloaded from the website. Application Form Link
- If the applicant is an Export Business Owner, then they must attach the “Form IEPS 230-b - Applicant to register as an exporter with ITAC” along with the main application linked above. Registration Application Form Link
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents it should be submitted to the authorities at the ITAC office.
- The application form will be verified by the ITAC authorities with the export rules and regulations.
- If all the export permit requirements are fulfilled by the applicant/export business owner, then the export permit will be approved to the applicant.
- If there are any false information or missing details and documents in the application, then the application will be rejected by the inspection authority.
- The permit approval will take a minimum of 20 working days to process.
- There is no fee for applying for the export permit application.
- Note:
- The application needs to filed in typescript form or in Block Letters (If manually filed)
- The application form that contains alterations or erasures, or that are not duly completed, will not be considered for the permit approval.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The export permit approval certificate is necessary document to export waste/scrap outside of South Africa. Without the permit, both ferrous and non-ferrous waste/scrap cannot be exported.
