Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get Incentives under Sector Specific Assistance Scheme (SSAS), the applicant must go to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Office in South Africa. Contact Link
  2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the DTI office.
  3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. The filled application form must be submitted along with the necessary documents to respective authorities in the DTI office.
  5. After verifying the documents completely, if the company qualifies the eligibility requirements set by the DTI board, then the incentives for special sector assistance scheme will be sanctioned to the applicant.
  6. There are no fee or charges to file the incentive application.
  7. The processing time will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

  • Signed Application Form
  • Custom and Excise Certificate- Exporter Registration Certificate
  • Brochure/CD ROM/Pictures of products
  • Valid Passport Copy or valid copy of Id for local events (physical exhibitions only)
  • Valid Tax Clearance Certificate/pin
  • Certificate of Incorporation (Pty Ltd, Ltd, etc.)
  • Audited or independently reviewed financial statements
  • Letter from an auditor confirming turnover and total assets (where applicable

For project co-ordinator application

  • Signed Application Form
  • 3 quotations for Local/International air tickets
  • 3 quotations for accommodation (physical exhibitions only)
  • 3 quotations for transport of samples
  • 3 quotations for ground transport/airport transfers (physical exhibitions only)
  • 3 quotations for event brochures/pamphlets/CD Roms/ banners
  • For virtual trade - digital videos/digital profiles/digital catalogues/destination marketing
  • 1 quotation for exhibition costs – Space/ Stand
  • Copy of the structured exporter development programme
  • Event Brochure in case of Exhibitions or Itinerary for meetings or conferences
  • Other documents requested by the officials. (If applicable)

EligibilityEdit

  • Organisations such as Export Councils, Joint Action Groups, SEDA, Provincial Investment and Economic Development Agencies, Industry Associations and those involved development of emerging exporters are eligible to apply for SSAS fund.



FeesEdit

  • No fees or charges are levied for the processing or evaluation of the Incentive fund for SSAS application and claims.



ValidityEdit

  • The validity period will be intimated to the applicant before sanctioning the fund to the applicant.

The funding criteria of SSAS applications are:

  • Generic Funding - R50 000 grant for establishing export council.
  • Grant for marketing, advertising and publicity costs on a 2:1 basis, to a maximum of R1m.
  • Project Funding – 80:20 cost-sharing grant for projects to develop particular sectors, find new export markets and promote black SMMEs, women, youth and people with disabilities.
  • Project Funding for Emerging Exporters – Travel & accommodation, exhibition costs, transport of samples and marketing materials, to a maximum of R1.5 million.
