- To Apply for the Skills Test for Instrument Rating, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the fee prescribed by the officer.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Further process of verification will be done by the officer.
- The applicant has to schedule the Instrument Rating skills test with an approved Designated Flight Examiner (DFE) or Flight Instructor (FI) who is authorized to conduct Instrument Rating skills tests.
- On the day of the skills test, the applicant will be required to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in various areas, including instrument flight procedures, radio navigation, and instrument approach procedures.
- If the applicant successfully passes the Instrument Rating skills test, the SACAA will issue the with a valid Instrument Rating that permits them to operate aircraft under instrument flight rules (IFR).
- This entire process can be completed within 5 - 6 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
