Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Registration to Operate Unreserved Postal Services, the applicant must go to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa’s (ICASA) office. Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the ICASA office, else the application form can be downloaded from the website linked here. Application Form Link
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it must be submitted to the respective officer in the ICASA department.
5. The authorities will verify the application and the documents submitted by the applicant.
6. Then the application will be forwarded to other officials for analysing the business plan.
7. After verification, if all the details are legitimate then the Unreserved Postal Services registration will be approved by the ICASA.
8. After the complete registration process, the applicant will be issued with the registration certificate.
9. The complete fee details for the registration are given in the “Fees” section of this page.
10. The processing time to get the registration certificate can take up to 30 days.

Eligibility

• Any private individuals or businesses is eligible to apply for a licence to operate an unreserved postal or courier service.

Validity

• The unreserved postal or courier service registration is valid for 3 years from the date of issuing the registration certificate.
