Apply In-Person/Post office:

  1. To Apply for Recreational Angling Permit or License, the applicant must visit the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment office in South Africa. Contact Link
  2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the DFFE office, or else it will be available at the nearest post office in South Africa.
  3. The application form for Angling permit varies for each province, the Western Cape province’s angling permit sample is linked here for reference. Western Cape Application Form Link
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The application form must be filed with necessary details.
  6. Later, the application form and the required documents should be submitted to the respective official at the DFFE office.
  7. After that the application will be verified by the officials, and if the details provided and the supporting documents submitted are legitimate, then the permit for Recreational Angling will be approved by the officials.
  8. The complete fee details of the permit approval are given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. The processing time to get the permit for recreational angling permit will be intimated to the applicant after applying.

  • Angling Permit Monthly Fee – R52.00
  • Angling Permit yearly Fee – R76.00

  • The angling permit or license is valid either for a month or a year, depending upon the application made by the applicant.
