Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Permission to Name and Number Streets, the applicant must visit the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) office Link
  2. The applicant should first discuss about the street name and number details with the district GIS official at the SAGC office.
  3. The existing street name and number details within 5km radius of the application site will be shared with the applicant to avoid the overlapping of name and number.
  4. After the discussion, the applicant must submit list of proposed street name and numbers and its alternatives along with the written application form to the GIS officials at the council office.
  5. The applicant should also submit the proposed subdivision or layout plan with proposed street names and numbers to the Planning & Building Development Management department at the respective district. (Without submitting these documents, the application will not be accepted for approval)
  6. After submitting the application, the details of the street name and number will be advertised in the for public opinion for 30 days.
  7. If there is no objection fromthe public, then the proposed name and number will be verified.
  8. If there is no duplicate name and number within the 5km radius, then the permission to the proposed name and number application will be approved by the GIS officials.
  9. The fee details for the application will be intimated to the applicant while applying.
  10. The processing time to get the permission to name and number streets will be intimated to the applicant after applying.
