South Africa - Apply for National Test Flight Rating

During lockdown, Applications are welcome through the email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.
Apply through email
- To apply for a National Test Flight Rating through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

- Download the Application For National Test Flight Rating by clicking the following link: Link
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
- After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: [email protected]
- Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
- Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the rating.
- When the rating is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

EligibilityEdit
- Any National Test Pilot license holder, who wants to get qualified to conduct Test Flight as a South African Pilot In Command, can apply.
- The applicant must have attended basic test flying techniques course as per the South African Civil Aviation Technical Standards.
FeesEdit
- Processing cost of a National Test Flight Rating – R 370.00.
ValidityEdit
- The validity of a rating may be synchronised with that of the National Test Pilot License.

- The applicant must ensure all the information sought in the application has been provided properly and all the attached documents are appropriately furnished in order to avoid rejections.
