During lockdown, Applications are welcome through the email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.
Apply through email

  1. To apply for a National Pilot Flight Instructor Rating through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.
  2. The address and contact details of the South African Civil Aviations Authority can be found in the following link: Link
  3. Download the Application For National Pilot Flight Instructor Rating by clicking the following link: Link
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  5. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
  6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
  7. After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: [email protected]
  8. Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
  9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
  10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the rating.
  11. When the rating is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

  • Any National Pilot Flight license holder, who wants to become a flight instructor under the guidance of an approved Aviation Training Organisation, can apply.

  • Instructor rating: R390.00


ValidityEdit

  • Any National flight instructor rating is valid for a period of two years from the month end following the issue date.

  • The applicant must ensure all the information sought in the application has been provided properly and all the attached documents are appropriately furnished in order to avoid rejections.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A National Pilot Flight license holder, who wants to act as an Instructor and provide instructions in a non-type certificated aircraft for which he or she holds a valid category rating and class rating or type rating, under the guidance of an approved and rated Aviation Training Organisation, must possess an Instructors Rating.
