Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a license for an Unreserved Postal Service in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).

3. Visit the office of ICASA and obtain Form A to apply for an Unreserved Postal Service License from the relevant department.
4. You can also find the application form in page number 9 of the following document: Link
5. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page, when you visit the office.
6. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
7. Then, proceed to submit itto the relevant authority at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed.
8. After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
9. Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will perform necessary actions for the license issuance process.

Eligibility

• Any private individual or business entity is eligible for obtaining license under this category.
• The applying person or entity must be aware of the standards and conditions set by the authority of Unreserved Postal Services.

Fees

The once-off application fee for registration is R1000.00

Validity

A license document for an Unreserved Postal Service is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of issue.

• Applications for registration to the Authority must be in writing and must be submitted to the Authority before 16Hours of Operation, during working days.

Need for the Document

Any person who wants to operate a facility for Unreserved Postal Services and provide postal services in the Republic of South Africa must apply for and obtain a license from the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa.

• Failure in compliance with any of the requirements set by the authority may lead to disqualification of the application.
