Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To Apply for Duty Free Shop License, the applicant must go to the approved International Airport in South Africa. Contacts Link
2. The license application form must be downloaded from the SARS official website, or else it can be obtained from the officials at the SARS office. Application Form Link
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form must be filed with all the necessary details, and along with the other supporting document it must be submitted personally at the Customs and Excise branch office at the approved International Airport.
5. The application will be verified by the customs officer on various eligibility requirements.
6. After verifying the application, if the documents are legitimate and apply with the custom rules and regulations, then the Duty-Free Shop License registration will be approved by the customs officer.
7. If the application is rejected, the applicant will be notified about the reasons of rejection.
8. The fee details for the application will be intimated to the applicant at the international airport while applying.
9. The processing time to get the Duty-Free Shop license is 45 days after submitting the application.
