Singapore - Apply for Replacement Identity Card (IC)

When the Identity Card (IC) is lost, you can report to ICA Building and apply for a replacement within 14 days in person. When change of particulars/photograph needs to be made in the Identity card or if the Identity card is damaged, you can apply for a replacement within 14 days from the date of damage/ defacement.

Apply In-Person (For replacement of lost Identity card)

  1. Applicants shall visit the office of ICA in person.
  2. Refer the office contact details in the “Office contacts & Locations” section below for address details.
  3. Collect the application form from the office.
  4. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  6. Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
  7. Now pay the required fee to the concerned authority.
  8. After receipt of payment, a collection slip will be issued with the date from which the new replacement IC will be available for collection.
  9. Once it is processed, the applicant will be required to carry the collection slip when going to collect the IC.


Apply In-Person through Singapore Overseas Mission

  1. Applicants shall visit the nearby office of embassy which is Singapore Overseas mission.
  2. Refer the office contact details in the “Office contacts & Locations” section below for address details.
  3. The embassy will help you to forward the application to the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
  4. Collect the application form from the office.
  5. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  7. Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
  8. Now pay the required fee to the concerned authority.
  9. The officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
  10. Once it is processed, the embassy will inform the applicant through email.
  11. The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip when going to collect the IC.


Apply online (For replacement of lost Identity card)

  1. The applicant shall visit the website in the following link:online link
  2. Click on “Change IC particulars (self)” button if you want to change particulars in IC
  3. Click on “Change IC particulars (On behalf of others)” button if you want to change particulars in IC for others.
  4. Click on “Replace IC (damage) (self)” button if you want to replace damaged IC
  5. Click on “Replace IC (damage) (On behalf of others)” button if you want to replace damaged IC for others.
  6. Log into the SingPass account by typing the “SingPass ID” and “Password” if you have account. Otherwise, you can create account by clicking on “Register now” button.
  7. Fill in all the required details and click on “next” button.
  8. In the next page, fill in all the applicant’s details and upload all the documents in the “Required Documents” section below. Then, click on “next” button.
  9. Check the details in the confirmation page and click on “Submit” button.
  10. In the next page, check the payment summary and proceed to make payment through preferred payment mode.
  11. After payment, an acknowledgement page can be viewed. The acknowledgement page shows the application reference number which can be used when you enquire your application status.
  12. You can check the status of the application in the link:online linkClick on “Enquire application status” to check the status.
  13. After approval, notification will be sent through SMS and email. You can make an appointment to collect the IC within three months in the following link:online link In the drop down menu, select “collection of identity card” under the heading “Citizen” for a Singapore citizen. In the drop down menu, select “collection of IC (SPR)” under the heading “Permanent Resident” for a Singapore Permanent Resident. Fill in the required details and submit by clicking on the “submit” button.
  14. The IC can be collected at ICA Building over the counter after making an appointment.

Required DocumentsEdit

When the identity card is lost the following documents need to be submitted. The documents required from Singapore citizen are as follows:

  • A police report (if you are a victim of crime, e.g. theft) or make a declaration at ICA Building (for any other reasons)
  • Baptism or religious certificate (if you want to include a religious name)
  • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable) - Consent from all parents / legal guardians is required for the change of name if the registrant is below the age of 21
  • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
  • Your recent passport-sized, hardcopy, colour photograph taken within the last three months.


The documents required from Singapore Permanent Resident are as follows:

  • A police report (if you are a victim of crime, e.g. theft) or make a declaration at ICA Building (for any other reasons)
  • Image(s) of the page(s) of your current passport which contains your personal particulars (bearing new name if applicable)
  • Your recent passport-sized, hardcopy, colour photograph taken within the last three months.


When the identity card is requires change of particulars or is damaged the following documents need to be submitted. The documents required from Singapore citizen are as follows:

  • Baptism or religious certificate to include a religious name (if applicable)
  • Deed poll for a change of name (if applicable)
  • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
  • Your recent passport-sized, digital, coloured photograph taken within the last three months.


The documents required from Singapore Permanent Resident are as follows:

  • The page(s) of your current passport which contains your personal particulars (bearing new name if applicable)
  • Marriage certificate (if you want to include your married name)
  • Your recent passport-sized, digital, coloured photograph taken within the last three months.


Note: Singapore permanent residents who desire change of name must first update the name on the current passport and submit a copy of the passport having their new name as a supporting document to change their name on the Singapore Identity card.

EligibilityEdit

The applicant should be a Singapore citizen / Permanent Resident having a SingPass account.

FeesEdit

The following fee has to be paid when the Identity card is lost:

  • S$100 for first loss
  • S$300 for second and subsequent losses.


The fee is S$60 when the Identity card requires change of particulars or is damaged.

Processing TimeEdit

  • The processing time for the replacement of an Identity card when lost is one month.
  • The processing time for an Identity card when it requires change of particulars or is damaged is three working days. It may take longer time for processing during peak periods. Your application processing will be delayed if your photograph does not meet the requirements for photos.
