Singapore - Apply for Copy of Birth Certificate or Extract

Apply Online (With required information)
- The applicant has to visit the website in the below online link
- There are three ways to apply for birth extract.
The first method can be done through the following steps.
- If you have a SingPass account, then click on “SingPass Holder” button.
- Click on “Apply Birth Extract” button.
- Log into the SingPass account by typing the “SingPass ID” and “Password” if you have account. Otherwise, you can create account by clicking on “Register now” button.
- Fill in the applicants’ details and click on “Next” button.
- Check the details in the confirmation page and click on “Submit” button.
- In the next page, check the payment summary and proceed to make payment through preferred payment mode.
- After payment, an acknowledgement page can be viewed. The acknowledgement page shows the application reference number which can be used when you enquire your application status.

- Click on “Non SingPass Holder” button.
- Click on “Apply Birth Extract” button.
- Fill in the “Identification type” and “Identification number” and click on “Next” button.
- Fill in the applicants’ details and click on “Next” button.
- Check the details in the confirmation page and click on “Submit” button.
- In the next page, check the payment summary and proceed to make payment through preferred payment mode.
- After payment, an acknowledgement page can be viewed. The acknowledgement page shows the application reference number which can be used when you enquire your application status.
The Third method has the following steps.
- Click on “Corporate applicant” button.
- Click on “Apply Birth Extract” button.
- Fill in the “Name of corporate entity”, choose the necessary option and click on “Next” button.
- Fill in the applicants’ details and click on “Next” button.
- Check the details in the confirmation page and click on “Submit” button.
- In the next page, check the payment summary and proceed to make payment through preferred payment mode.
- After payment, an acknowledgement page can be viewed. The acknowledgement page shows the application reference number which can be used when you enquire your application status.
The birth extract will be sent through registered post. Please make sure that someone is present at the mailing address to receive the post. ICA will not take responsibility for any damage caused in the mailing process.
Applicants who wish to collect the birth extract at ICA Building can mention in the "Other Reasons/Remarks" column in the online application.

- If the applicant does not have the required information about birth (full name (as stated in the birth certificate), gender, date of birth and Singapore Birth Certificate / NRIC number), then the following steps should be followed.

Apply in Person from Overseas
- Applicants shall visit the nearby office of embassy.
- Refer the office contact details in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section below for address details.
- The embassy will help you to forward the application to the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
- Collect the application form from the office.
- Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
- Arrange an appointment with the officer to submit the application.
- Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
- Now pay the required fee to the concerned authority.
- The officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
- Once it is processed, the embassy will inform the applicant.
- The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip when going to collect the document.

- The birth should have occurred in Singapore.
FeesEdit
For Birth extract
The fee is S$40 for a copy of birth extract. This fee does not include the postage fee. The postage fee will be calculated based on the mailing address and number of copies mentioned in the online application.
For Search of birth record
- The fee is S$40 for a one-month search period
- The fee is S$40 for every additional month or part thereof.
The search fee cannot be refunded.

Processing TimeEdit
For Birth extract
- The processing time for application is six working days. The application processing time does not include postal delivery time. Local postal delivery time may take 2 to 3 working days. International postal delivery time depends on the foreign postal service.
- For Search of birth record
- The processing time depends on the period of search. You will get information of the search result via email. When the search is finished successfully, you can apply for a copy of the birth extract.

Information which might helpEdit
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Registry of Births and Deaths only records the births that occurred in Singapore, which were registered in Singapore after 1872. Records of birth that happened overseas will not be recorded.
