Apply Online:
- To Apply for a passport, the applicant has to make the application online via the following link
- Next the applicant has to answer the questionnaires and complete the application form will all the necessary details.
- Next the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “submit”
- Next the applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested. The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
- After successful payment the applicant can download the receipt as a proof of payment.
- The applicant will receive an email explaining what documents he/she needs to send and where to send them.
- After the applicant applies, he/she may be asked to attend an interview.
- The entire process can be completed within 8 – 10 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for a passport, the applicant has to approach the nearby Post Office that has a Check and Send service link
- Note: The applicant has to enter their Postcode and select the type of service to find nearby offices.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Post all the documents to the address mentioned in the application form.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested. The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The applicant will receive an email explaining what documents he/she needs to send and where to send them.
- After the applicant applies, he/she may be asked to attend an interview.
- The entire process can be completed within 8 to 10 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

To apply online the applicant will need:
- A digital photo of the applicant’s child (or a device that takes digital photos)
- Supporting documents
Documents required to apply through post
- 2 new photos of the applicant’s child
- The child’s full birth or adoption certificate (the one with parent’s details on it)
- Proof that the applicant’s child has British nationality (for example a British registration certificate, parent’s passport details or parent’s birth certificates)
- Any valid passports from a different country belonging to the child
- Any court orders relating to the child (for example, that describe parental responsibility or residency arrangements)
