Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Job Centre Plus Card, the applicant has to approach the Local Jobcentre Plus office – link
Note: To find the address of your Jobcentre Plus office, please enter your full postcode.
- Meet the concerned officer and ask for a travel discount card.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant must fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant must attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant will need to pay a £10 refundable deposit for the card.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The Work Coach will provide you with a Jobcentre Plus Travel Card if you are eligible
- Your Work Coach will provide you with a form in which will be endorsed with a dated Jobcentre Plus stamp.
- Please then take the completed form to a station Ticket Office and present the form with your Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card as photo ID
- The Ticket Office staff member will then give you your train ticket
- This entire process can be completed within 3 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible for a Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card in Scotland, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be claiming one of the following benefits:
- Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
- Universal Credit (UC) for 3-9 months (18–24-year-olds) or 3-12 months (over 25s)
- Income Support
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Incapacity Benefit
- The applicant must be resident in Scotland.
- The applicant be aged 16 or over.
- The applicant must have a valid National Insurance number.
- The applicant must be able to travel to and from your job, training, or education.
In addition to the above criteria, you may also be eligible for a Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card if you are:
- A care leaver aged 16-20
- A young person aged 16-24 who is not claiming benefits but is in education or training
- A disabled person who is claiming benefits
- A person who is homeless or at risk of homelessness

- The card is valid for 12 months and can be renewed if you are still eligible.
