Apply In Person
- To Apply for Disability Living Allowance, the applicant has to approach the Department for Work & Pensions link
- The applicant can request an application form by calling the DLA helpline on 0800 121 4600.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- Also, the applicant has to attend a medical assessment.
- There is no fee for Disability Living Allowance.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- If the claim is successful, the applicant will receive regular payments to help with the extra costs associated with the disability or health condition.
- This entire process can be completed within 12 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible:
- Have a health condition or disability that has caused difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least 3 months, and is expected to continue for at least another 9 months.
- Be aged between 16 and State Pension age.
- Meet the residence and presence criteria, which means you must usually be living in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland when you apply, and have spent at least 2 of the last 3 years in the UK.
- Pass a qualifying period, which means you must have been experiencing difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least 3 months before you can claim PIP.
- Score enough points in the PIP assessment, which assesses your ability to carry out various activities related to daily living and mobility.
