ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. The claimants, shall file complaint in the concerned police station asking for the information/details about the unclaimed property with the relevant supporting documents.

  3. Please visit the respective office.
  4. Meet the respective authority at the office and collect the complaint form (if any) from the concerned authority or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  5. Once the complaint is ready, please attach the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority.
  6. After receiving the complaint, the authorities will check the complaint and documents. If all are in place, the complaint will be accepted.
  7. Authorities will make entries about this complaint in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
  8. The complaint will be processed further. The ”SMS” triggered update on complaint status will be sent to the claimants mobile or claimants gets a call from the police station about the status.
  9. The concerned authorities will scrutinize the records and “General Station Diary (GD)” followed by an internal inquiry. Once the required information on the unclaimed property/valuables is ascertained, a report will be generated.
  10. Based on the matching data/information, the police station authorities will notify the claimant to visit the police station with the original document/details.
  11. The claimant shall visit the police station with original documents/details as advised and follow the authorities guidelines to get the information.
  12. The whole process can be completed within 7 days. This service is offered free of cost.



Apply Through CSC

  1. To Get information about Abandoned, Unclaimed, Recovered Property, the applicant has to approach respective “CSC” centre link
    • NOTE: The applicant has to select state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
  2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
  3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
  4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will decide on the issuance of the Certificate.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.

EligibilityEdit

  • Those who lost any valuables including cash, golden jewellery, etc. are eligible to apply.
  • Those who have already registered a complaint with a police station are eligible to apply.
  • If the complainant has already filed a complaint and has a valid FIR, can apply.

  • The outcome of this process will be helpful in getting the lost/stolen item to its legitimate owner.
  • Whereas the claimant shall make such request within six months from the date of the loss or theft of the said property/valuables.

InstructionsEdit

  • The unclaimed property can also be the one, a person brings in valuables found lying on public roads or other places to the police, the officer concerned needs to make a noting in the general diary of the station and issue a receipt to the person. Such property information will also be ascertained to find whether the claimant request is matching with those properties.
  • If any valuables are found or handed over to the police station, the respective police office will check is there any complaint is lodged in any police station about the similar missing valuables.
  • They then call the complainant and enquire. If the enquiry is satisfied, the police station will hand over the article to them.
  • Don’t forget to take all the originals of the document along with a copy for filing the complaint.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
