Procedure

• Medical examination service is provided by the medical department to alter visit status to the resident of the Ministry of Public Health.
• This alteration is carried out through undertaking examinations to ensure the visitor is medically fit to transfer such a visit to the residence.

Apply In-Person

1. In Qatar, the Medical Commission is responsible for holding medical examinations with the aim of protecting the health of Qatar population and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
2. Expats should first obtain a blood-type certificate that can be obtained from any clinic for a nominal fee, before taking up the Medical Commission examination.
3. The medical examination is done by visiting the Medical Commission, located on Al Muntazah Street, off the E-Ring Road. The medical commission is the authority responsible for conducting the medical examination.
4. Once you visit the facility, inform the registration officer that you want a medical examination to convert the visit visa into a residence permit.
5. Present the required document as applicable to the commission’s officials. These documents include.

   • Original passport of the visitor
   • Clear copy of visit visa with the cell phone number (in case you are seeking an extension of visa)
   • Debit/Credit card for payment of fees.
   • medical certificate issued by an accredited centre in the country of the foreign labourer. (if applicable)

6. The commission’s office will go through your documents and you will be asked to make the payment for the medical test.

   • The fee for the medical test is QR100 per individual,
   • A Debit/Credit Card is used for payment. Cash payment is not allowed.

7. After payment of the fees you will be summoned to take the medical examination.

   • The medical examination may include Blood Test, Chest X-Ray, Screening for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C.

8. The result of the medical examination shall be sent electronically to the residency system of the Ministry of Interior.
9. The results take a period of one to two weeks to come through. You can print the health certificate from the MOI residency system or collect it from the Medical Commission

   • The original registration receipt must be presented if you want to collect the health certificate from the Medical Commission.

Eligibility

• Individuals (visitors) on a visit visa in Qatar who want to transfer it to a residence permit are eligible to make the application.

Fees

• The fee for medical test is QR100 per individual,
• Debit/Credit Card is necessary for payment. Cash payment is not allowed.

Validity

• It is valid for a period of six months.
