ProcedureEdit

  • Members of Diplomatic missions and offices may submit a request to the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to renew a diplomatic card.
  • The renewal application can be made 3 months prior to the expiry date.

Apply In-Person

  1. The first step for members of Diplomatic missions and offices to renew their diplomatic card is the making an application for renewal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Protocol Department.
  2. This can be done by visiting the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in person to make the renewal application. Here will be issued with a “Request to Renew Diplomatic Card to Members of Diplomatic Missions and Offices” form to fill and submit. This form can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs MOFA Website or it can be downloaded from the following link : Request a Diplomatic Card to Members of Diplomatic Missions and Offices
  3. Fill in the form electronically and print the filled-in application form.
    • Make sure you tick (Renewal ID) at the top right-hand side of the application form.
  4. Attach the required documents to the application form and submit them to the Protocol Department Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These documents include:
    • Copy of passport
    • Three personal photos
    • Certificate of Blood Group
    • Copy of expired Diplomatic Card
  5. The Protocols Department’s officials will go through the renewal application and if everything is in the order they will begin processing the renewed Diplomatic card.
    • All the required condition should be met before submitting the renewal application form.
  6. The application process may take a period of two to three days to complete.
  7. Once ready the applicant will be notified to visit the Protocol Department Offices to be issued with the new renewed diplomatic card.
  8. The application is issued free of charge by the principle of reciprocity.

  • The renewal application is issued free of charge by the principle of reciprocity

ValidityEdit

  • The validity of the diplomatic card is a period of one, two or three years depending on the validity period of the corresponding diplomatic residence permit.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A Diplomatic Residence Permit allows delegates from overseas to stay and work in Qatar over a longer period of time, providing them with access to a range of important services. During this period the delegate will need a Diplomatic card.
  • The Diplomatic card is required to complete many bureaucratic procedures such as applying for driving licenses, opening bank accounts, to be able to sign a rental agreement, pay your fines, rent a car, officially identify yourself and also to gain admission to licensed premises.
  • The Diplomatic card needs to be valid at all times.
  • The delegate needs to carry the Diplomatic card at all times.

  • The application must be filled out electronically.
  • The application must be typed in Arabic.
  • Name & Data should be typed as written in Passport.
  • The Diplomatic Card holds several security features that should not be tampered and cannot be faked as well as it carries data of the cardholder.
