Qatar - Issue Residence Permit based on Birth Certificate

ProcedureEdit

  • Individuals and establishments can make an application to issue new residence permits of persons (expatriates) who have entered Qatar , have a birth certificate and have no QID number.
  • This can application can be done through the online portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
  • The person (expatriates) has to be inside the country when making the application.



Apply Online

  1. To make an application to issue a new residence permit of persons who have entered the country , has a birth certificate and have no QID number, the visitor needs to first get a medical examination for the issuance of a residency permit and have his/her fingerprints taken.
    • Several medical tests must be conducted, including a blood test, fingerprinting, health check and a chest X-ray. To get more information on medical test check the procedure “ Qatar- Request Medical Examination for Residence Permit” on the Wikiprocedure website
  2. In the next step, “the sponsor” (Individuals and establishments)can log in with their smart / establishment card to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
  3. If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
  4. Once logged in, click on "Residency Services” tab on the dashboard then click on the “Issue/Reactivate RP by Birth Certificate” link.
  5. Enter the birth certificate number of the person who needs a new residence permit.
  6. Enter the person's details, address and required residency period then click on "Next" button.
  7. Select the delivery method for the new residence permit.
    • In the case of personal transactions, the user will determine the method of receiving the new residence permit (either by personally going to the Expatriates Affairs Department or via Qatar Post).
    • In case of enterprise transactions, the new residence permit will be delivered by Qatar Post
  8. Click on "Pay Fees", and pay the applicable fees using a debit or credit card.
    • The user will pay using the credit card in the case of personal transactions. In the case of enterprise transactions, payment can be made either by credit card or bank transfer (from account to account). The delivery fees (if any) must be paid.
  9. After successful payment, a receipt will be shown to the applicant. Print the acknowledgement receipt for reference.
  10. You will be notified through SMS when the reactivation has been approved.
  11. Once approved, your new Residence Card will be delivered to your preferred location through the postal service or you can pick it up from the Expatriates Affairs Department offices on the same day.

FeesEdit

Personal Sponsorship

  1. Work permit fee: QR 100 annually.
  2. Residence permit fee: QR 300 annually
  3. QR 100 for ID card (as per the validity of residence permit).


Company Sponsorship

  1. Work permit fee: QR 100 annually
  2. Residence permit fee: QR 1000 annually
  3. QR 100 for ID card (for the period of residence permit).

ValidityEdit

  • The residence permit validity will be one year or three years depending on the validity period of residency.

  1. Employees particular ( Name of applicant , Sex , Nationality ,Passport Number ,Passport expiry date, Date of Birth ,Last Date of Entry / Last Date of Exit, Occupation , Academic qualification, Relation with host-for family members)
  2. Sponsors particular ( ID Number, Name of applicant , Relation , Profession ,Company ID , Company name , residence address of sponsor)

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • With a Residence Permit, one can access many other services, apply for further permits and licenses, sign a rental accommodation agreement, apply for a loan, and the list goes on.
  • Another key benefit of the Residence Permit is that it allows the holder to personally sponsor their immediate family members (spouse, sons, daughters) to join them and live in Qatar

Information which might helpEdit

  • Login is made using a smart card, and the user must be registered in Metrash2.
  • The entry visa for the person to whom a new RP is issued or an old one is reactivated shall be valid, and the person must be in Qatar.
  • The birth certificate holder shall start the RP procedures by completing the medical examination and fingerprint ones in order issue a new RP
  • For establishments and companies, the new RP is received through Qatar Post.
