  • Nationality and Travel Documents’ Department (NTDD) functions are related to implementing the laws of Nationality, ID Cards, and passports. All these services are provided by NTDD through its main office, or its sub-offices distributed around the country, in addition to the forms provided in MOI official website.

Apply In-Person

  1. To make an application for a new Qatari Identification Card (QID), one has to make an application at the Nationality and Travel Documents Department offices of the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
  2. This can be done by visiting the NTDD main office or its sub-offices distributed around the country
  3. Here you will be provided with an application form for a new ID card to fill and submit. The application form can also be obtained from the MOI Website or from the following link: Passport or ID Application form
  4. Fill in the application form, indicating that it’s a new application for an Identity Card by ticking the appropriate boxes.
  5. Attach the required documents to the application form and submit it to the NTDD officials. These documents include the following:
    • Two recent passport size photo
    • The original passport and its copy.
    • A certificate proving blood group.
    • Copy of birth certificate.
    • A copy of the ID card of the parents.
    • Marriage certificate of parent
    • Parental consent.
  6. Pay the required fees and submit the payment receipt for the new ID card. A fee of QR100 is charged for the application.
  7. Once you make your payment, your application be processed and you will be contacted to pick the New Identity Card once it is ready.



Apply Online

  1. The first step is to log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
  2. If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
  3. Once logged in, click on "Qatari Citizen Services” on the dashboard then click on the "Qatari Documents” link.
  4. In the next step, select that you are making a new application for an Identity Card.
  5. Fill up all the required information in the online application form and upload the required documents.
  6. Choose your preferred delivery option of the new Identity card. You may collect the card from the NTDD offices for free, or pay a fee to collect it from a post office, or have the card delivered.
  7. Enter your cell phone number to receive SMS notification when the card is ready.
  8. Review information you provided to ensure that the information provided is okay.
  9. If everything is okay you can move on to pay the required fees. This is done by Clicking on the “Next” tab to move to the “Payment Details” page, then click on “Pay” to make the payment.
  10. Pay appropriate fees using a debit or credit card and submit your application.
  11. You will be notified once the processing of your application is complete.
  12. This takes a period of between three to five days.

  1. Two recent passport size photos (for those who are less than 12 years old and seniors over 65 years).
  2. The original passport and its copy.
  3. A certificate proving blood group.
  4. Copy of birth certificate.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The identity card is an important card for the purpose of identifying yourself as a Qatari citizen.
  • Many bureaucratic procedures requires an applicant to present their ID Cards, such as applying for driving licenses, opening bank accounts and also to gain admission to licensed premises.

  • All permanent residents in Qatar should carry an Identity Card with them according to Qatari law. The ID card is required for all dealings with Government ministries on daily basis.
  • An ID card is often required for registration at clubs, bank accounts, schools, nurseries and so on.
  • The ID card is not required for children below 18 years of age.
