ProcedureEdit

  • Qatar Automobiles & Touring Club (QATC) is the sole authority in Qatar to issue International Driving License, you can obtain the same from any major travel/car rental agents in Qatar.

Apply In-Person

  1. Visit the Qatar Automobiles & Touring Club (QATC) in Doha, Qatar to make the application.
  2. Here you will be given an application form to fill and submit. The agents at QATC will help you fill the form if you have trouble filling it.
  3. Fill in the required information in application form and attach relevant documents.
  4. Pay the application fees. The application fees are as follows:-
    • QAR 100 (Only at - Qatar Automobile and Touring Club QATC)
  5. Submit the application form, accompanied by the required documents and payment receipts to the QATC offices for processing.
  6. You will be contacted to collect your IDL at the QATC offices after a processing period of 3 to 5 working days. You are required to bring proof of identification while collecting your document.

Note:

  • International license holders are restricted to driving rental vehicles as insurance companies require drivers of privately-owned vehicles to hold a full license.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The International Driving Permit is a translation of your local license which allows motorists to drive in foreign countries without having to obtain the local driver's license. This does not require you to undergo any driving lessons
  • This document must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country to be valid.
  • Persons with international driving licenses may drive in the country for up to six months. After that, it is mandatory to switch to a Qatari Driving License.
