Procedure

PROCESS FOR CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN PAKISTAN AND OVERSEAS:

I. Pakistanis in Pakistan

a. Apply in person

1. Complete the application form as obtained from “Town” or “City Police Officer” Or “local district office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) “ Or “tehsils/assistant political agent” of your area Or download using the link: link
2. Once the application and documents are in hand for applying.
3. Go to the respective…
   1. Town/City Police Officer of your area for larger cities
   2. The superintendent of Police (SSP) in smaller cities/towns/rural areas.
   3. Tehsil/assistant political agent in FATA areas.
4. Applicant shall apply to the respective authorities as per their area and can get the certificate as advised by the authorities.

II. Pakistanis overseas

Certified copies of your passport, including all the pages showing your legal stay should be in hand

a. Apply at Pakistan embassy or consulate

1. Applicant can apply at their nearest Pakistan embassy or consulate.

3. Call the office and fix appointment also find out the details for this procedure.
4. On the scheduled date, go to the office with all the document in original and in copy.
5. Please follow as per officer guidelines to process your application.
6. A consular fee must be paid. The consular fee varies by the consulates.
7. This application will be processed by the respective department.
8. As per notification, certificate will be delivered to applicant.

Note:

Applicant shall nominate a relative who lives in Pakistan to apply on his/her behalf. They should bring :

• An affidavit (on 20Rs judicial stamp paper) stating that they will receive certificate on applicant’s behalf.
• An authority letter in their name to get certificate on applicants behalf.

PROCESS FOR NON CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN PAKISTAN AND OVERSEAS:

I. Foreign national in Pakistan

Certified photocopies of your passport, including all the pages showing your legal stay should be in hand.

a. Apply In-Person

1. Complete the application form as obtained from local district office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of your area Or download using the link: link
2. Once the application and documents are in hand for applying. Go to the respective office of “The superintendent of Police (SSP)”
3. Applicant shall apply to the respective authorities and can get the certificate as advised by the authorities.

• Valid identity document (identity card, passport, driving license).
• Address card (utility bills).
• Copy of valid CNIC or NICOP (Pakistani ID Card) from applicant.
• Valid passport.
• CNIC copies from father & mother of applicant.

• Affidavit in case the individual is out of country.

In general

• Valid passport (attested copy as per requirement).
• Valid citizen proof (respective ID’s issued by respective nation).
• Passport size photographs.
• Birth certificate (as per requirement).
• Proofs of legal stay (copy of passport held during the said period with respective stamp and seal).
• Email ID (useful to communicate issues with respect to your application.
• A self-addressed envelope with or without stamps (as required).
• Valid contact number (applicant can be communicated)

Eligibility

• Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
• Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
• The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
• Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Fees

• There are no official charges by government to issue Police Character Certificate in Pakistan.
• But concerned issuing department can charge any costs involving delivery of final document to the address of applicant.
• Fee/charge varies for case to case. Updated fee requirement will be provided by respective authorities while applying.

Validity

• Six months from the date of issuance.
• Validity norms vary from country to country.

• The application for has to be filled in by the authorized person on behalf of applicant.
• Name and Father's Name must be filled in Capital Letters/Block Letters.
• The application form must be filled and forwarded together with the documents or the application will not be processed and the request will be rejected.

Need for the Document

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have.
