Procedure

The Directorate general of Passport and Residence is responsible of renewal of employment residence.

How to Apply

1. Log into the Royal Oman Police website using this link click here on ENGLISH to view the page in English.
2. Select Electronic Visa Services (apply online) click on for other visas, read through the instructions as you scroll down to apply for visa renewal.
3. Select apply for visa renewal to open the application form, fill in the form and submit it. NOTE that Applicants holding Arabic passports should fill in the application in Arabic Language.
4. Pay the fees and any late fines online.
5. Get your printed residency renewal paper.
6. When the form is printed, all documents related to the type of residency must be attached.
7. Go to a passport and residency department with the worker’s passport and renewal application form, in order for the residency to be stamped in the passport.

Note

• Make sure that your form is endorsed and stamped by your sponsor.
• In case the application is presented by someone other than you, the representative must be Omani and holding a written authorization issued from the Directorate General of Passport & Residence as per the sponsor's request.

Required Documents

1. Two photographs size (4X6) cm.
2. The foreigner's passport provided it is valid for a period not inferior to six months.
3. The original labor card data forms, issued by the Ministry of Manpower and their copies.
4. A proof that that the sponsored person has accomplished the medical check from the Ministry of Health.
5. In case the application is presented by someone other than the partners, the representative must be Omani and holding a written authorization issued from the Directorate General of Passport & Residence as per the sponsor's request.

Eligibility

It is granted at the request of a local sponsor and on his responsibility to the foreigner coming to Oman for employment and whose age is not below 21 years old.

CONDITION

The sponsor must be a local one with full legal capacity, and be responsible for the truth of the information given in the application form.

• The person for whom the employment visa is requested shall not be below 21 or above 60 calendar years.
• The person shall be of the same sex as stated in the labor permit, which was issued by the Directorate General of labor Affairs.
• The occupation for which the visa is requested must be identical to the one stated in the labor permit.

Fees

• 20 Omani Riyals.
• Fines for late renewal: (50) fifty Omani Riyals for each month.

You can complete the online payment (fee, penalty and extra penalty) and/or re-print your visa application details if you have already filled the visa application form online. NOTE:Online Payment is NON-REFUNDABLE for visa renewal applications

Validity

• Within three months from the date of issuance.
• Valid for extension and multiple entries.

Need for the Document

• Employers must obtain employment visas for any foreign employees aged 21 or older for entry in Oman. This is the standard visa for employers to sponsor a foreign national for work in Oman.

Information which might help

IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORM:

• Enclose copy of the applicants passport and other documents.

• Applicants should comply with laws applicable in the Sultanate of Oman, otherwise they will be subject to legal enquiry.

• Under no circumstance the employee shall be allowed to work for any one other than his/her sponsor.

• In all cases the Directorate Gen. of Passports & Residence have the right to reject the application without declaring any reason.

• Applicants should be in the Sultanate to renew their residence permits.

• According to Article (16) of the Implementing Regulation of the Foreigners Residence Law, obtaining a valid entry visa, does not necessarily mean that you will be allowed to enter the Sultanate. Passport & Residence officer has the right to refuse your entry, on grounds of Public Interest.

In cases of transferring the sponsorship within the Sultanate, there must be a release letter from the former sponsor and approved by the Directorate General of Labour. All violations, including the delay fine must have already been settled when the visa application is submitted.
