Apply Online

  1. To Apply for Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant in Ohio, the applicant has to make the application through online by completing the FAFSA form by login to link
  2. Be enrolled as an undergraduate, post baccalaureate, or graduate student at a school that participates in the TEACH Grant Program.
  3. After selecting, the applicant has to login in with their FSA id and password if the applicant doesn’t have an account, he/she can create a new FSA id by clicking on Create FSA id.
  4. Fill out student’s personal information such as Name, Date of Birth, etc.
  5. Add list of schools the applicant considering. Applicant can add 10 schools at a time.
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. Next section is regarding the dependency status. If the applicant is an independent student, they can skip the parent’s information in the section. If the applicant is a dependent student fill out parent information in the section, and then provide financial information.
  8. After that sign & submit FAFSA form. Then select “other options to sign and submit”. And select “Print a signature page” and print the application form for the applicant’s reference.
  9. There is no service Fee for applying Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant.
  10. The authority will review the application and contact the applicant within 7-10 days.
  11. Meet certain academic achievement requirements (generally, scoring above the 75th percentile on one or more portions of a college admissions test or maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25). For specific information about the academic requirements, talk to the financial aid office at the college or career school.
  12. Receive TEACH Grant counselling that explains the terms and conditions of the TEACH Grant service obligation. The applicant must complete counselling each year that he/she receive a TEACH Grant.
  13. Sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve or Repay.

The basic eligibility requirements are that the applicant must

  • Demonstrate financial need (for most programs).
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen.
  • Have a valid Social Security number (with the exception of students from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or the Republic of Palau).
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrolment as a regular student in an eligible degree or certificate program.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for Direct Loan Program funds
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress in college or career school.

InstructionsEdit

In exchange for receiving a TEACH Grant, the applicant must agree to:

  • Serve as a full-time highly-qualified teacher for four elementary or secondary school years at a school or educational service agency that serves low-income students.
  • Teach in a high-need field and
  • Complete the required four years of teaching within eight years after the applicant graduate from or otherwise cease to be enrolled at the institution of higher education where the applicant received his/her TEACH Grants.
  • If the applicant does not meet the requirements of his/her service obligation, all TEACH Grants that the applicant received will be converted to Direct Unsubsidized Loans. He/she must repay these loans in full, with interest charged from the date of each TEACH Grant disbursement.
