ProcedureEdit

  • Go to a Marriage License Issuer to get a marriage license. Marriage License Issuers are available in most communities in Nunavut.
  • For the name of the Marriage License Issuer in your community call toll free (800) 661-0833 or (867) 645-8017.
  • Submit the required documents and give the information needed to acquire a marriage license.
  • Pay the marriage license fee.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Birth certificate for both parties intending to marry
  • Full names for both sets of parents (including mothers maiden names)
  • Place of birth for both sets of parents
  • Immigration documents (if applicable)
  • Divorce certificate(s) or decree(s) a decree absolute or certificate is required if either person has been divorced. Please note: no other divorce documents are acceptable
  • Death certificate(s) (if either person has been widowed)
