Northern Territory - Obtain a Provisional Driver Licence
ProcedureEdit
- Applicants must make a booking for a practical driving test, which are conducted at MVR offices and Police Outstations (remote areas).
- Pay the test fee.
- Applicants must provide a vehicle for the test, and it must be registered, roadworthy, and clean. Applicants are also required to have an "L" plate displayed at the front and rear of the vehicle. Applicants must not forget to bring their Learner Licence with them on test day.
- After passing the driving test, applicants will be charged a standard licence fee and the Provisional Licence will be issued. Licence holders must display "P" plates on any vehicle they drive for the period of their provisional licence.

Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Customer Service Centre
MVR has Customer Service Centres throughout the Northern Territory.
For those living in a remote locality, or outstation you may go to your nearest Police Station.

EligibilityEdit
To obtain a provisional driver licence, applicants must have held the required learner licence for 6 consecutive months.
FeesEdit
- Theory Test*: $ 20.00
- Motorcycle Operator Skills Test (MOST or Balance Test)*: $ 20.00
- Practical Driving Test conducted in respect of licence application*: $ 86.90
- Provisional licence (under 25 years of age) - 2 years : $ 45.00
- Provisional licence (over 25 years of age) - 1 year: $ 29.00
