Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for reporting crime in person, the applicant has to visit the police station nearest to his/her location.
2. The contact details of the Nigeria Police Force pros can be found in the following Link
3. Visit the police station with a written statement describing the event of crime and obtain a crime reporting form from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the report form with necessary details and information about the crime and the victim.
6. After completing, attest it with your signature or place a thumbprint and attach all the required documents with the form.
7. Then submit the documents and complaint statement to the official and after completion of required processes, your report will be recorded.
8. You will be given a reference number which must be used for all enquiries regarding the reported case.
9. Then, further proceedings will take place accordingly and the allocated official will inform you about the process.

Note: Online application is only for cyber crimes.

1. To apply for reporting crime online, the applicant has to visit the following Link
2. Read the warning in red coloured text and click “I Accept” if you are okay.
3. Fill the complaint form with required details in respective fields and click “Submit” button.
4. Successful submission message will be displayed and a reference number will be allocated.
5. The applicant can track the complaint process using the reference number through email or whatsapp.

• Any anonymous person can also contact the police station and report the crime.

Instructions

• The information provided should be correct and the applicant should acknowledge that providing any false information shall make his/her liable to Penal actions under Nigerian laws.
• After registering the crime incident, a case docket will be opened and completed by the concerned official. The completed case docket is allocated to a police detective who will carry out the investigation.
• The detective will keep you informed of any progress including when to attend the court hearings.
