Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for renewing Student Pilot License in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Nigerian Civil Aviations Authority.

3. Visit the NCAA office with an application letter made in writing and duly signed by a person authorised by the applicant to request for a Student Pilot Licence renewal from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
6. Then, proceed to submit the package to the Director General at the office in person for further processes.
7. Upon receipt of the application and the attached documents, the application will be subjected to an evaluation process in the Licensing Directorate by Licence Examiners/ASI.
8. The applicant will be issued a payment slip for processing fees and will be directed to pay at a designated bank.
9. The teller is presented to NCAA cash office where an official receipt of payment is obtained and submitted at the Licensing Directorate upon which the application is processed.
10. When the document is ready, the applicant is notified of the collection of the signed Licence which will be released upon presentation of an identification or letter of authority from the company.
11. If the application is not satisfactory, a Letter of Denial written to the applicant within 24 hours informing the applicant reasons for such denial and advice the applicant on the outstanding documents to meet his or her request.
12. Further processing will depend on when the applicant submits the outstanding documents.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a citizen of Nigeria and above 16 years of age.
• The applicant should have received and logged relevant ground training from an authorised instructor for the particular category of flight.
• The applicant should have received and logged relevant ground training from an authorised instructor for airspace rules and procedures for the aerodrome where the student will perform solo flight.

Instructions

• Almost, all pilot certificates and ratings require the applicant to pass a knowledge test, also called the written test and a practical test.
• The applicant should be financially sufficient to get enrolled in a pilot training school and obtain the required flight training which is usually expensive.
• It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the Authority.
• Make sure that you attach all the required documents as specified by the authority to avoid rejections.

Need for the Document

• Any Private Pilot License pursuant in Nigeria will require a Student Pilot License, prior to apply for a PPL.
